Jim Crall, DDS, ScD, recently joined the faculty at the UCLA Center and is professor and chair of pediatric dentistry at the UCLA School of Dentistry.  Dr. Crall directs the MCHB-funded National Oral Health Policy Center, currently housed at the UCLA Center. He holds degrees in dentistry and pediatric dentistry from the University of Iowa and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He was selected to be a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Dental Health Services Research Scholar from 1984-86, and subsequently obtained masters and doctoral degrees in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Crall was appointed as the first Dental Scholar-in-Residence at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (formerly AHCPR) in 1997, and has served as a consultant or panel member for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Milbank-Reforming States Group Oral Health Workgroup, National Committee on Quality Assurance, National Governors Association, Pew Health Professions Commission, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and U.S. General Accounting Office. Prior to moving to UCLA, Dr. Crall directed Columbia University’s Oral Health Disparities and Policy Center and served as Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Associate Dean for Program Evaluation and Planning at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.  His work focuses on disparities in pediatric oral health care and public policy affecting access and quality of care.
