Evaluation of First 5

Ventura County

The Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Development, the quality assurance arm of the Children and Families First Commission of Ventura County in California, has partnered with the CHCFC to collaboratively develop and implement a Results Accountability Evaluation Plan (RAE). A major goal of the Ventura County Commission is to enhance the school readiness of all children through quality programs and practices that advance early care and education, improve health conditions, and strengthen families. To this end, the RAE measures desired results at system, program, and child and family levels to provide recommendations that guide strategic investments with a positive impact on young children and their families. The evaluation team will also provide countywide training to build local evaluation capacity, and to identify ways to support school readiness for special populations such as children with special needs, immigrant and migrant families, working poor, contexts of child endangerment and risk, non-English speaking/English Language Learners and cultural minority families.
