SYSTEMS INNOVATION & IMPROVEMENT

All Children Thrive (ACT)

All Children Thrive is an equity-focused, community-driven initiative to develop, test, and refine the tools and support our diverse communities need to prevent adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), counter their effects, promote healing, and foster individual and community resilience, giving all children the opportunity to thrive. Adopting an "all-in" strategy, we are gathering best practices from around the world and, together with leaders and residents from cities and counties throughout the US, establishing and evaluating groundbreaking prevention and intervention strategies. By the end of the initiative, we will demonstrate measurable outcomes in pilot communities and will have evidence-based models ready to scale throughout the state.

The initiative is has gained momentum in California cities from funding from Prop 63.

ACT's strategies include:

  • Engaging and activating cities to become ACT cities. We plan on working with cities, starting in California, in implementing evidence-based policies and practices in improving child wellbeing. The cities will act as its own microenterprise.
  • Helping a few of the ACT cities become Transformation Hubs, employing user-centered design, networked improvements, and rapid cycle innovation and improvement strategies to achieve targeted high priority outcomes.
  • Build the capacity of some cities to implement significant systems improvements.  We will use a star rating system to promote the adoption of capacity building strategies, such as enhancing data infrastructure, creating permanent city level leadership on child wellbeing, or designing a 10-year blueprint for child wellbeing.
  • Developing an ACT-informed Data Infrastructure, which will monitor key measures of child development and wellbeing.
